Couples Photographer | Parksville & Vancouver Island
Couples sessions are about the quiet in-between moments just as much as the big ones.
The way you naturally fall into step together. The small laughs. The way you look at each other when you forget the camera is even there.
Most sessions take place outdoors around Parksville, Qualicum Beach, Nanaimo, and along the coast of Vancouver Island where the light is soft, the air feels open, and everything slows down a little.
Nothing about these sessions is overly posed or stiff. You do not need to know what to do. You just show up together and I guide things gently so it all feels natural and easy.
What a couples session feels like
It is relaxed from the start.
We might walk along the beach, wander through forest trails, sit on driftwood, or just spend time moving through a space that feels good for you both.
I will give simple direction when needed, but mostly I am watching for the real moments. The small gestures, the quiet connection, the laughter that happens without trying.
It is less about posing and more about letting your relationship show up as it actually is.
Locations across Vancouver Island
Couples sessions often take place in:
- Parksville (Rathtrevor Beach at sunset is a favourite)
- Qualicum Beach (soft light, open shoreline, calm evenings)
- Nanaimo (Neck Point, Pipers Lagoon, forest and ocean mix)
- Oceanside coastlines and quiet beaches nearby
Each location brings its own mood. Some feel soft and romantic, others a little more wild and windswept. We choose what fits you best.
A relaxed, natural approach
There is no pressure to perform or be anything other than yourselves.
If you feel a bit awkward at first, that is completely normal. Most people do. It fades quickly once we start moving and talking.
You do not need to be photogenic. You just need to show up together.
FAQ
My husband hates having his picture taken, is that a problem?
I hear this SO often!!! No, not a problem at all. Most wives/spouses say this at the start. It always settles quickly once we get going. I'll make him laugh and it'll be easy!
What should we wear?
Something comfortable that feels like you. Neutral tones and soft textures tend to work well outdoors.
Where do sessions happen?
Mostly beaches, forest trails, and coastal viewpoints around Parksville, Qualicum Beach, and Nanaimo.
When is the best time?
Golden hour, especially near the ocean, gives the softest and most flattering light.
