Family Photographer | Parksville & Vancouver Island
Capturing the important moments of your life!
Family sessions are relaxed, simple, and built around real connection.
Most take place outdoors around Parksville, Qualicum Beach, Nanaimo, and the Oceanside area where beaches, forest trails, and open coastal light give everyone space to just be themselves.
Nothing about these sessions is stiff or overly posed. Kids are free to explore, parents can relax, and I guide things gently so it never feels awkward or forced.
Usually we start slow, let everyone settle in, and just move through the space naturally. Some of the best moments happen in between the "planned" ones anyway.
What a family session feels like
There is no pressure to perform or behave a certain way. We might walk the beach, wander through forest trails, sit in the sand, or just let the kids run for a bit while I follow the real moments as they happen. If things feel chaotic, that is completely normal. That is often when the best photos show up. My job is to keep things easy, low-pressure, and comfortable so you can actually enjoy the time together.
Locations across Vancouver Island
Most family sessions happen in and around:
- Parksville (Rathtrevor Beach, Craig Bay, Englishman River)
- Qualicum Beach (shoreline walks, open beaches, evening light)
- Nanaimo (Neck Point, Pipers Lagoon, forest trails)
- Oceanside and nearby coastal areas
Each location has its own feel, from wide sandy beaches at low tide to quiet mossy forest paths and rocky shoreline vistas.
I help you choose a location based on your family, the time of year, and the kind of atmosphere you want.
A relaxed approach
You do not need to know how to pose.
You do not need perfectly behaved kids.
You do not need to stress about how it will go.
I will guide things when needed, then step back and let your family interact naturally. The focus is always connection, not perfection.
FAQ
What if my kids don't sit still?
That is completely cool. Who wants to sit and say cheese anyways!! Most don't. Sessions are built around movement and laughter.
What should we wear?
Keep it simple! Neutral tones, textures, and comfortable clothing always work best. I can help with this before your session.
When is the best time for photos?
Hello Golden Hour! Usually closer to sunset for softer light, especially along the coast.
Do you help choose locations?
Yes. I will suggest spots based on your family and the vibe you want.
